Frequently asked questions

Answers to what people ask most about Havspor. Can't find yours? Get in touch — we reply quickly.

How fresh is the data?

Vessel positions from the Norwegian Coastal Administration's AIS network update roughly every 30 seconds. Departures and real-time estimates come from Entur and update continuously. Timetables (GTFS) are refreshed nightly.

Can I trust the departure times?

Havspor shows the operators' own times, including real-time changes where available. But boats can be cancelled or moved at short notice — always check with the operator before a journey that matters, and allow extra time.

What is a request stop?

Some stops are on-demand: the boat only calls if someone has booked in advance. Havspor marks these clearly in the timetables, often with a booking phone number. Rules vary by operator.

Which boats are covered?

Express boats and ferries along the entire Norwegian coast — 259 routes and 966 stops from the Oslofjord to Finnmark. International ferries and cruise ships are not included.

Where do I buy tickets?

Havspor doesn't sell tickets, but links you straight to the right regional ticketing app (AtB, Reis Nordland, Fram, Ruter, Skyss, Kolumbus and more) or Entur for each departure.

Can I add Havspor to my home screen?

Yes. Havspor is an app-free service you can install from the browser: choose “Add to Home Screen” in your phone's share menu, and it behaves like an app — no download.

Can I show departures on my own website?

Yes — for free. The Havspor widget shows live departures for any quay on your own page. Pick a quay, copy the code, paste it. The only requirement is that the Havspor link in the widget stays in place.

Where does the data come from?

Departures and timetables from Entur, vessel positions from the Norwegian Coastal Administration (AIS), weather from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET), and place data from Kartverket. All open, public data sources.

Does Havspor cost anything?

No. The service is free and requires no login. It is funded by ads and partnerships.

I found an error — where do I report it?

Use the contact form, or the feedback button on the stop pages. Error reports are among the most valuable things we receive.
